Breast Surgery
Breast Augmentation
Enlargement of the breasts with implants is a very commonly requested procedure. Dr. Stokes performs many breast augmentation procedures, and has experience with some experimental implants including the soybean oil filled implant. Dr. Stokes performs augmentation with both saline and silicone filled implants. The differences between these implants will be explained at your consultation, but if you would like to learn more in advance of the consultation, please visit www.mentorcorp.com. The shape and size of the implant which is right for you can be determined at your consultation. The operation can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation, but Dr. Stokes prefers general anesthesia for most patients. Most women return to normal activity within 5-7 days, and vigorous physical activity can be resumed within 2-3 weeks. We would like to stress that this is a SAFE and effective operation regardless of the implant type chosen.

Breast Lift
Loss of skin elasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding ultimately affect the shape and firmness of your breasts. Patients who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts can have a breast lift to raise and firm them, resulting in a more youthful breast contour. Some patients may be unhappy that they have lost a significant amount of breast volume over time. In such cases, implants inserted in conjunction with a breast lift can increase breast size at the same time as the shape and position of the breasts are enhanced. Dr. Stokes performs many breast lifts with and without implants.

Breast Reduction surgery is typically indicated when a woman's breasts are disproportionately large for her frame. This can lead to a number of physical impairments including back and shoulder pain, notching of the shoulders from bra straps, and rashes on the undersurface of the breast. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in the hospital, where the patient typically spends 1-2 nights. Most patients resume most activities in 2-4 weeks and resume full physical activities in 4-6 weeks.
